Seneca Employees Throw Food In Garbage Cans - For a Great Cause

12/15/2017

For the past month, Seneca Landfill employees have been throwing away food... for a great cause!

Starting November 27th, clean bins were placed at each Vogel Holding company to collect new, unopened food and household essentials. On December 18th, foods and goods will be picked up by 412 Food Rescue/724 Food Rescue and the Grove City Community Food Pantry.

The collected items will be distributed to each company's local food pantries and food banks in an effort to help our neighbors have a happier, healthier holiday season.

We also want to encourage our employees (and our customers) to think about how they can change their attitudes toward food waste. 412 Food Rescue and Grove City Community Food Pantry were founded with the mission of educating and empowering everyone to make smarter, more sustainable choices about food.

In the short term, we hope our donations will support our neighbors in need. In the long term, we aim to change perceptions about food waste, sustainable choices, and our relationship with our community.

Stay tuned next week as we report our food drive's final tallies!
